Budgeting For a new Tube
You can spend as much as you want on equipment but with a minimal investment of $1,000 you can have yourself a fairly decent quality setup. The nice thing about float tubing is you can spread these purchases out over time. Take the winter months for example. October is usually the last month to take your tube out and you won't get into any open water again until usually April or May. This gives you over five months to purchase needed equipment. For Christmas, let everyone in the family know you want gift certificates to you favorite tackle shop. Ten $25 gift certificates can go along way. Before you know it, spring has sprung and you will have all of your new equipment in tiptop shape and ready to go at ice off.
On the opposite side of the coin, if you purchase all of your equipment at the same time, you can usually negotiate a deal with the store. Everywhere I have helped others get their gear has given out a discount of 10% - 15% off when they spent $1,000 or more at one time. ASK or the answer is pay full price.
