Like so many others, I live in a large city without quick and easy access to local trout streams. The time required driving the distance to the blue ribbon Bow River or any of our amazing Eastern Slope Alberta fisheries is just not a reality for a fishing junkie like me.

I fish as much as possible, and when in my float tube, until my legs cant kick another lap. So I have developed what I call “ The Circuit", a collection of lakes within one to two hours of my home. Most cities across Canada and the United States will have a collection similar to the ones I fish. Join me as I explain choosing a prime lake, the equipment you'll need to fish them, and basic techniques for float tube fishing with a fly.  If you want to catch more fish; Brown trout, Rainbow trout or pretty much any fresh water game fish, remember… Catch and Release, so we can all do the same.

Trout Fact: Trout spend 90% of there time feeding below the surface.

Recently the Float tube fisherman asked anglers on differnet message boards. What were the Top Reasons you Fish?

Best Response

  • I go fishing becuase "Life in the city sucks! I take my children with me, and teach them to relax and enjoy there life. Fishing is the only way i know how to find that peace."

Float tube fishing is all about having fun and enjoying your boat while being safe and courteous to others.  Please remember while enjoying your time on the water; catch and release helps maintain a quality fishery for all to enjoy.

Angling pressure never stops growing, nor does our responsibility as anglers.
